About Dr. Kapo:
Dr. Kapo joined Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven in 2012. She serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine in Medical Oncology and Chief of Palliative Medicine. Dr. Kapo was previously the medical director of palliative care services at the Philadelphia Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. She received her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and performed her residency at the University of Colorado in Internal Medicine. Dr. Kapo did her fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania in Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Dr. Kapo provides clinical palliative medicine to patients at Smilow Cancer Hospital. In addition, she focuses on developing a research mission in palliative medicine and expanding teaching opportunities for existing Yale faculty, staff, fellows, residents, and medical students. She is currently charged with creating an ACGME certified fellowship in hospice and palliative care.
