About Dr. Saubermann:
Dr. Lawrence Saubermann is Chief, Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Strong Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He received a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts. He attended medical school at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital, and Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Saubermann completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was an Instructor of Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital before moving to Boston University Medical Center to establish his independent research program. While at Boston University Medical Center, he became an Assistant Professor of Medicine and stayed there for five years as a Staff Gastroenterologist. In July 2005, he came to Strong Memorial Hospital to continue his research and clinical activities in the area of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He has received grants and published widely in this area, and has written chapters in major textbooks. He enjoys teaching on the wards, in the clinics, and in the laboratory.
