About Dr. Spiera:
Dr. Spiera specializes in the treatment of various rheumatologic conditions including Scleroderma, Vasculitis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Wegener’s Granulomatosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and many others. He received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Spiera was a resident in Internal Medicine at the NY Hospital and his fellowship was in Rheumatology performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Spiera is the principal investigator in several clinical trials and observational studies at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Spiera is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. He has authored numerous publications relating to his areas of expertise. Dr. Spiera has received a number of awards in his career including the Teacher of the Year Award, Globus Award and the Founders Award for Clinical Investigation from the Scleroderma Foundation. He is a member of both the National Scleroderma Foundation Medical Advisory Board (MAB) and serves as co-chair of the Tri-State Chapter MAB.

Dr. Spiera is a practicing physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery and is part of a private practice, Rheumatology Associates, NY, NY. Dr. Spiera is also a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College
